Tom Humphrey:

Tennessee GOP Chairman Robin Smith today declared that House Speaker Kent Williams will no longer be considered a Republican.

The GOP just lost their majority in the House. Nicely played, Democrats!

UPDATE: ACK has the letter.

Too difficult

Governmenting and leadershipping is just too hard a work for GOP! Give us back biting and whining blaming others any day!

Robin Smith made a tactical

Robin Smith made a tactical error that will probably become a strategic mistake.

When she runs for office there will, or should, be two questions:

Will you represent your district or the party, since you have a history of choosing the party over the state, and

was it all about the power of the party, or the power of Robin Smith?

Seems somewhere down the road state party officials may just see the wins that gave them the House in November as being caused by local phenomenom rather than a statewide mandate for the Republicans.

Instead I expect the TNGOP to become more isolated as its core becomes more anti-Obama, and the party's "yes" people allow the party to be what it needs to be for them, rather than what it needs to be to expand.

Does this developent help/hurt Haslam and his party conduit

His family is intertwined withe the state and national party time and time again.

Without a clear Democratic contender in the wings, it may actually be too early to tell what the fall out will be for these neo cons holed up in the State Republican Party ranks.

Also, I suspect that Robin Smith has violated the Speaker's constitutional rights guaranteed under the First Amendment in his freedom of association in that his association was impaired because of his exercise of other rights allocated under the first amendment (running for office, etc.)

The state party has been wayward for a number of years, really veering off course during the Sunquist regime as evidenced by the Corker Senate bailout which was spearheaded by Alexander's office particularly his chief of staff, Tom Ingram.

Ain't it cool?

Watching Republicans self destruct has become one of my all time favorite pass-times. It is the one thing they can always be counted on to accomplish with the utmost of precision and grace.

I doubt Williams will turn Blue, but he won't soon forget the way he was treated by the Taliban.
