Time magazine reports that Michael Surbaugh, Chief Scout Executive for the Boy Scouts of America, issued a public apology to Scouting families today for President Donald Trump's remarks at last week's National Boy Scout Jamboree.

(Backstory here: The 17 most jaw-dropping moments of Donald Trump’s speech to Boy Scouts)

Excerpt from BSA statement of apology:

I want to extend my sincere apologies to those in our Scouting family who were offended by the political rhetoric that was inserted into the jamboree," Michael Surbaugh wrote in a statement. "For years, people have called upon us to take a position on political issues, and we have steadfastly remained non-partisan and refused to comment on political matters. We sincerely regret that politics were inserted into the Scouting program.

It's like the current

It's like the current president isn't someone you would want to bring home to meet your mother.

Bringing them home to meet your mother

Doesn't look like we'd be able to bring Scaramucci home, either...

If you haven't seen it, here's the transcription of an unsolicited phone call he made last night to a reporter at the New Yorker, demanding that the reporter tell him who in the WH had leaked that Trump was to have Sean Hannity there for dinner

"Reince is a fucking paranoid schizophrenic, a paranoiac,” Scaramucci said. He channelled Priebus as he spoke: “ ‘Oh, Bill Shine is coming in. Let me leak the fucking thing and see if I can cock-block these people the way I cock-blocked Scaramucci for six months.’ ” (Priebus did not respond to a request for comment.)

Scaramucci was particularly incensed by a Politico report about his financial-disclosure form, which he viewed as an illegal act of retaliation by Priebus. The reporter said Thursday morning that the document was publicly available and she had obtained it from the Export-Import Bank. Scaramucci didn’t know this at the time, and he insisted to me that Priebus had leaked the document, and that the act was “a felony.”

“I’ve called the F.B.I. and the Department of Justice,” he told me.

“Are you serious?” I asked.

“The swamp will not defeat him,” he said, breaking into the third person. “They’re trying to resist me, but it’s not going to work. I’ve done nothing wrong on my financial disclosures, so they’re going to have to go fuck themselves.”

Scaramucci also told me that, unlike other senior officials, he had no interest in media attention. “I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own cock,” he said, speaking of Trump’s chief strategist. “I’m not trying to build my own brand off the fucking strength of the President. I’m here to serve the country.” (Bannon declined to comment.)

Apparently, the WH Director of Communications was unaware that when speaking with a reporter, it's sometimes necessary to ask that certain comments be accepted "off the record."

Then again, I wonder how many WH Directors of Communication have picked up the phone to freely offer their (pretty darned vulgar) opinions on their WH colleagues at all, on or off the record?

Double-oops, I'm thinking?!
