Bad, very bad.
Bad pick. The guy drips with lobbyist money. Bad, bad, bad pick.
Have to agree. So many other choices. Does Obama a actually want to win? The incompetence was complete with the backhand to Hillary. No one can blame this on Karl Rove.

Russert Interview
From 'Meet the Press' - November 27th, 2005
[...]
MR. RUSSERT: And yet it's important that we put things in historical context. Senator Biden, you were on the show in August of 2002 talking about Saddam Hussein and his weapons of mass destruction. You concluded your statement by saying, "I think Saddam either has to be separated from his weapons or taken out of power." A month later you voted for a resolution authorizing just that. In hindsight, knowing everything you know now about the absence of weapons of mass destruction, was your vote a mistake?
SEN. BIDEN: It was a mistake. It was a mistake to assume the president would use the authority we gave him properly. And I brought along that whole quote. I knew you'd ask me this. I said, "We know he continues to attempt to gain access to additional capability, including nuclear capability. There's a real debate on how far off that is, whether it's a matter of years or it's a matter of less than that. We don't know enough now." That was the rest of my quote. So I never argued that there was an imminent threat. We gave the president the authority to unite the world to isolate Saddam. And the fact of the matter is, we went too soon. We went without sufficient force. And we went without a plan.
MR. RUSSERT: If there was a vote today, you would vote no?
SEN. BIDEN: I--with this president, absolutely I would vote no, based on the way in which they've handled it.
Obama-Biden
I'm down with it!!!!!
Not a bad pick at all
I like the choice of Biden. Yes, he was wrong on the bankruptcy bill vote (protecting his home-state industry), but his overall voting record is solid. He also brings foreign policy cred (and has a son deployed in Iraq), deflects criticism of Obama on the "experience" angle, and has shown he can be an effective attack dog (his coinage of the phrase "a noun, a verb, and 9-11" to criticize Guiliani was right on target).
All this hype
and we get a let down.
I'm tired of the dem party taking liberals/progressives for granted. I'm tired of the dem party pandering to independent center-right voters that aren't going to vote for dems anyway.
Tis a bit anticlimactic,
Tis a bit anticlimactic, IMO. I was kinda hoping for some up and coming no name with a brilliant resume. Looking back, that doesn't happen.
Bill Clinton's
reaction:
(link...)
from one of those durn centrists
As much as I hate Biden's involvement with the usery and abusery of the CC industry, I attribute that to "you dance with the one that brung you" the same way farm state Obama supports ethanol. Besides I don't think Obama will let his Veep dictate domestic policy. I like to think the VP will go back to being a sort of ambassador at large and I think Biden will be excellent in that role.
I think Biden will be a great complement to Obama. The man is very smart and knows foriegn policy inside and out. Great debater, too. I look forward to seeing him chew up Mitt Romney(?) and spit him out. Too bad Biden can't debate McCain.
As an added bonus, from what little I've read I think I will like Mrs. Biden as much as Michelle Obama.

He has a pretty compelling personal story, too - which Obama recounted very well in his intro. And he's clearly going to play the attack dog role with relish, if that speech I just heard is any indication.
Look, I would love to see a "change" VP candidate, but realistically I think Biden is a pretty good pick. When you're name is Obama and you're a black man, practical politics pretty much dictates you pick a white establishment guy for your running mate.
At least it's not somebody boring like Bayh.
Agreed
Biden might not have been my first choice and he might have done things I disagree with but he's excellent when it comes to debate. The blurb above with Timmeh Russert shows how he seems always prepared for an opponent (and Russert WAS an opponent and Biden knew it).
Now we get to see how the traditional media beltway insiders spin this choice. Of course we already know that somehow it will be good news for Hanoi John and the GOP. :-)
"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."
Hunter S. Thompson
Instead of...
the Southern strategy they chose the Delaware strategy. What in the heck is the Delaware strategy?
This will go down in the history books. It was Obama's to lose, now it is McCain's election to lose. If McCain picks either Sarah Palin or Charlie Crist, this is done. Stick a fork in it done.
The only question now is why? Why of all people Biden?
Whistling
Sounds like you're whistling past the graveyard and scared shitless. Either that or you're in the tank so badly you haven't seen light for years. Have you considered a career in comedy?
"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."
Hunter S. Thompson
Here's one...
Have you considered a career in comedy?
Stop me if you've heard this one. "After a quick meet-and-greet with King Abdullah, Obama was off to Israel, where he made a quick stop at the manger in Bethlehem where he was born."
What happened to the roll
What happened to the roll out plan? Was the secret service issue too big to prolong the issue?
Anyway, how we view Biden will to some degree be framed by who his opponent on the McCain ticket ends up being. Biden versus Mittens? Is that really as bad as the idealists are making it?
Brian A.
I'd rather be cycling.
My first reaction....

Yeah, but
Yeah, but you were anti Obama anyway. The only way you would've been impressed would've been if Obama had said his VP choice was himself and he was putting HC up as the nominee.
*yawn*
The only way you would've
You have me confused with someone else. I said that I would support the party's nominee.
But since I supported Clinton, I can't possibly have anything to say, or if I do, it just doesn't count?
We are in agreement there about Biden. Total effin' yawn. Completely uninspired. A thoroughly conventional, boring, bland, flat, ennervating choice.

I doubt if Biden even cares if they win
The man obviously likes to hear himself speak.
What a waste! 30 years of Senate soundbites now
coming to haunt the Democratic party now.
You would have scared the beejeezus out of me if you had selected Caroline Kennedy as the VP. You could have grabbed the heart of the Democratic Party and instead you chose the arse of the Party.
30 years in the US Senate protecting the credit card industry, fixing the bankruptcy laws for the credit card companies, where does this slug fit in with the CHANGE mantra we had been promised all along?
An excellent choice
Biden's selection as the VP is a smart move on Obama's part. It shows tact and wisdom about how to win the General Election, something that the Left is still clueless to even in 2008 and after their wins in 2006. There was no way Obama could win unless he gets the white-male vote (which is 25% of those who vote in a Presidential Election) and with Biden, that may happen to some extent. Biden is an excellent US Senator but the real issue should be why that the American taxpayers have had to watch up to six US Senators waste our taxpayer money while running for office.
The U.S. Constitution, it is what makes us free and makes us American. Let's treat it as such and with care.
