Isn't it both beautiful and ironic that the Halls Shopper News adheres to the Scripps motto when the daily paper cannot?

Brian Hornback does apparently read KnoxViews. He's attempting to criticize me over on his blog. In an entry there, Hornback quotes my two posts on Knoxviews, one from last night and a second this morning, both regarding the KNS coverage of the release of the Tyler Harber report.

In the first post last night, I stated the KNS online story wasn't accurate. It wasn't. The print story, which was written by Scott Barker, and appeared in the KNS print edition was far different than the original online story from the night before. I posted a second comment this morning about that story saying it was more accurate (I was just giving the KNS credit for printing a much better story than what first appeared online).

Brian, there were two different stories written by the KNS. Apparently you didn't read both or didn't know that before trying to criticize me on your blog. Clearly, I'm not the one who's confused.

Also, folks might want to read Adam Groves and others accounts about the taking of the Republican Party computers. Mr. Hornback has said he put the computers in his personal vehicle. Assuming that's true, he still doesn't say what he did with them. Adam Groves appears to answer that question.

Unbelievable. Pot and kettle don't begin to describe this. Short course, Hornback libels the Halls Shopper News while accusing them of libel. Then he thanks Knoxville News Sentinel Publisher Bruce Hartman for allowing his response.

Reading Hornback as he describes the tenants of journalism is one of the most schizophrenic things I have ever read.

It is interesting to note that the Halls Shopper News has a weekly column entitled Gossip and Lies in which it intentionally reports untruths.

I believe that this portion of County Confidential targeted me by using Bias and in the process made numerous violations of journalistic standards and ethics. I have a record and history of returning every request by members of the main stream media for comments to stories about me. So, the thought by the reporter and editor in writing this story obviously were not to call me so that E.W. Scripps would not be forced to correct their work of fiction at the time of publication and in hopes that I would not desire to correct the story.

Since there are as many errors in the reporting of County Confidential Part III that pertain to me I can not imagine how many other errors are in the story and anything else written by the reporter in question and managed by the editor.

Thank You to E.W. Scripps management and in particular Bruce Hartmann for allowing me to correct the portion of County Confidential that has applied to me.

Part of my litmus test for whether Commission does a half-way passable job at these appts will be whether they are dumb enough to put Hornback on Commission.

In the mind of Hornback, a very scary place indeed, there are 14 repub commissioners who owe him their current term because he, single handedly, got everyone of them elected/re-elected.

I wonder if he is trying to pull this card because so far he has not released a resume or letter indicating his intent. He has till tomorrow to submit it. He was at the public forum on Saturday but did not speak his case to be on commission. Perhaps he was just checking out the competition? He could be waiting for a nomination on Wednesday either from a commissioner or from the floor. Would any commissioner be reall y so beholding to him to waste a nomination?

There is no recall process for Knox County Commission like there is for Knoxville City Council.

Commissioners can do what ever they want to. Eight of them are leaving and 7 are term limited in the next full election. So it is a possibility. Especially if Mayor Ragsdale were to want it to happen.

I would bet against it. The report on Friday probably sunk that ship. A much worse thought is that Bruce Hartman would let him write a weekly column in the Sentinel.

The KNS would have to provide sufficient staff time to take copy from Hornie and edit for factual errors, libelous statements, spelling and gramatical errors. It would require a complete re-write every time.

Hornback sniffed around, seeking to be appointed to a seat. Finding that he doesn't have support, he probably won't submit his name. I'm sure he "wants to spend more time with his family," instead.

Come the Knox County GOP reorganization here shortly and he's out of "office," the boy isn't going to have much of an identity left.

    Tenets of Knox County Government.

    1. Do little if any public good.

    2. Waste money.

    3. Argue constantly with the City and the School Board.

    4. Sue everyone else, including ourselves.

    5. Fight tooth and nail to stay in office, despite term limits.

    6. Propose semi-illiterate bloggers and former school board members as replacement commissioners.

    7. Provide welfare to Knox County developers in the form of TIFs and infrastructure improvements.
