Looks like the KNS has no
Looks like the KNS has no interest in this poll. Puzzling.
Where's the Grand Jury?
On the very last day of my Grand Jury duty, as we rode the bus to the jail, we were told that we had the power to investigate anything we thought needed investigating. When we got back to the city/county building, we were told that our "field trip" to the jail was an official inspection. This was clearly by design. An informed juror is a nuiscance.
Day 6 of the Hornback watch
Is it true? Was Hornback involved in the Tyler Harber affair?
Did he see emails hacked from at least one computer in town?
Is there more?
I am beginning to think Hornback may have been involved in some nefarious stuff.
Brian, here is your chance to clear your name.
Drop us a quick line and set the record straight.
If you can.
Where is the Grand Jury?
From today's Metro Pulse
http://www.metropulse.com/articles/2006/16_37/ear.shtml
The power of the press
Some commissioners say there are 10 votes (a majority) to call for an investigation, but as yet no one wants to be the one to make the motion. Discussions continue. Hutchison has enough allies on Commission to call for an investigation, should he want Commission backing.
Last week on the Gene Patterson show "Tennessee This Week" John Schmid was asked why County Commission does not do something about the Tyler Harber issue. His reply was that it would be too political for County Commission to do anything and it would be better for a Grand Jury to investigate the matter.
When asked if County Commission would ask for a Grand Jury Schmid replied that would not happen unless there was more coverage in the press especially the Knoxville News Sentinel.
So basically Bruce Hartman has the power to stop a Grand Jury by not reporting the news? How screwed up is that?

Part III
While They're Looking, See Why BB&T has the mortgages
on Ragsdale, Werner's, and Mike Lowe's homes and why the county has all of their collection funds at BB&T. Make sure there are no discount loan arrangement with county money handlers.
Day 7
It is not like Hornback to back away from a fight.
He may be wrong but he will not lie for anyone.
Is this why he refuses to answer the accusations that sully his reputation?
Brian ? Where are you?
I think I know why you refuse to answer those who besmirch you.
Advice of counsel.
You shared the emails from Tyler.
You were there and you know what happened.
If I am wrong, now is your chance.
Clear your name.
Brian?

Dempster's Ignorance
George,
You reveal you own, rather profuse, ignorance of the situation every time you post about Hornback. So, I'm going to break it down for you in hopes of pehaps shedding some light on a situation that is clearly beyond your capacity.
1. Brian Hornback is an ignorant hack who was offered and subsequently took a powerless position as party chairman so Ragsdale could get some lists.
2. Hornback was never on the 'inside' and would have not been privey to sensitive information.
3. Even if Hornback had seen something, he wouldn't have known enough about what was going on to able to give us any more of an idea than what we already have on the subject.
You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. So, please redirect you time and text toward beneficial discussion - such as, why all Ragsdale's 'money buddies' brought up all the options in Thorn Grove? Were they 'tipped off?' And, is Ragsdale to blame?
why all Ragsdale's 'money
why all Ragsdale's 'money buddies' brought up all the options in Thorn Grove? Were they 'tipped off?' And, is Ragsdale to blame?
It really wasn't that clandestine, and Ragsdale is not to blame. The Development Corp asked certain developers to act as brokers for them to determine whether landowners were willing to sell. When I interviewed Todd Napier for my Metro Pulse story, I asked him how they knew the property owners were willing to sell, and he told me they used brokers to approach the owners.
It's not a secret, and any real estate investor smart enough to keep an eye on MPC's activities could have picked up the October MPC report and seen exactly which parcels were up for consideration. The report also makes it pretty obvious which site was favored. Not that the developers who bought options were that enterprising, of course, but that sort of brokering is probably illegal only if the project was driven by county commission. With quasi-public TDC in charge, the rules are different and likely more flexible.
If the Thorn Grove lawsuit gets legs or the new, illegitimate commission balks at funding the business park, a smart investor could spend an hour in the MPC library and develop some informed speculation as to which site might serve as Plan B (Raccoon Valley/I-75 is my guess).
Day 5 of the Hornback watch
Still no sign of the once ubiquitous Brian Hornback.
If he ever pops up do me a favor. Ask him one simple question.
Brian, did you ever see any emails from Tyler Harber?
Fly - Had a rough day at work?
So why won't Hornback answer?
Give it up...
It's over.
Just lay down your pitch forks and torches because it's clear that no one is going to investigate or be tried. No one is talking, no one is investigating and no one is resigning.
I do admit that certain people's political careers have been shortened, but no one is going to jail or even court for these things.
Hound people like Hornback all you want, but Betty Bean's article clearly points out that Brian was never on the 'inside.' He was merely a dumbwitted follower who was tapped for a crappy job that had no power in order to secure some lists.
As for Tyler Harber, well, the kid did a bunch of wrong things, but he apparently is now working for some major political consulting group in DC. So I guess his life wasn't as badly maligned as he made out.
And, for Mike Ragsdale - this obviously has been a hard pill to swallow, but the media never caught on and he's still Mayor. And that doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon. Sure, he may have been outed by some kid he wronged, but we all basically knew he was a sleeze to begin with.
Now I would like nothing better than to see people who abuse public power and trust be prosecuted, but clearly it's just not going to happen. So, let's admit that fact and start talking about something else and quit wasting our time calling for an investigation and resignation that will never happen.
Compelling reading.

Isn't it odd that this same post above is on multiple blogs today? I wonder who the mouthpiece is?
So perhaps the commenter could comment on the breaking story over at Terry Frank's blog:
http://terryfrank.net/?p=790#comments
Looks like corroboration that Mike Ragsdale ordered Tyler Harber's actions:
http://terryfrank.net/wp-content/uploads/2006/09/Ragsdale-Cohen1.pdf
Compelling reading. A direct link to Tyler Harber's firm and more.
Names on the E-Mail, they've got options on the industrial site
Sit back and ask Ragsdale who actually owns the property in East Knox County that is being taken for an industrial park and who actually holds options to purchas the property in East Knox County and you'll see some of the same names on the list regarding the wheel tax and some folks going to get richer off the industrial park. It's not about the jobs, it's about the county (taxpayers) further lining the pockets of Ragsdale's closest supporters.
Day 4 of the Hornback watch
We now know how to keep Hornback off a blog.
Ask him about his relationship with Tyler Harber.
Brian, tells us about the emails. Did you see them?
Michael?
Do you think the Knoxville News Sentinel will notice this poll on KnoxViews where over 134 people participated and 87% believe a Grand Jury should investigate Mike Ragsdale and Company?
Michael?
Day 3
Day three on the Hornback watch. Anyone seen him?
Brian, did Tyler show you any emails from anyones computer?
Did you hear any conversation between Tyler and others about any unethical or illegal activities?
Day three is ending and Hornback refuses to respond.
Where is he?
Madeline Rogero calls for the Grand Jury
At Gene Patterson's blog there is a new call for the Grand Jury from a former Knox County Commissioner who also ran for the office of Mayor of Knoxville.
Terry Frank has also called for the Grand Jury as has Frank Cagle.
What are your thoughts?
Use of Public Positions for Political Purposes
If there is not a law against that, there should be.
It's not anything that hasn't happened in prior administrations and certainly in City of Knoxville administrations, but Ragsdale took it entirely too far, with paid political hit men working directly under him, under his and Arms' supervisions, doing absolutely nothing about it while knox county taxpayers footed the bill for their shenanigans.
And Figure Out Why Edward's $200,000 salary wasn't listed in N/S
The bigger mystery is why in the world fat ass Mike Edward's $200,000 salary was not listed by the News-Sentinel in the highest government/non profit payroll legder. At least with the huge UT salaries, those guys are teaching kids, coaching kids, or bettering the life of the university, with Edward, he ain't doing anything except taking credit for development in adjoining counties. They have done a good job putting good jobs in Blount, Anderson, Loudon, and Roane Counties (H.T. Hackney jobs no less), however, when it comes to doing anything about good jobs/benefits in Knox County, nothing for $200,000 a year.
Investigate Now!
The crime is official oppression or misuse of official info
buried in Tennessee Code Annotated 39-16-402, official oppression, Werner's memo clearly falls within the category of deliberate intention to oppress the chase restaurant empire and he should be prosecuted for that. He's a fairly weak link in the power chain, if indicted, he'd squeal like a pig to save his own hide, which is very thin anyway.
The other category is misuse of official information right there with the rest of the act a 39-16-404, such that a number of Ragsdales closest friends, supporters, and financial backers, have prospered over the past 4 years holding options on property to which the county is acquiring austensibly for public purposes. Let's see who the holders of the options are for the property out in East Knox County getting ready to cash in on the bounty.
These guys should be prosecuted and if you indict Werner first, he'll sing like he's on the front row of the children's choir.
Werner Should Get Copper Cellar Gift Certificats for his bonus
I'd like to see Werner's year end bonus be paid in Copper Cellar Corporation gift certificates, such that he would have to step foot into a chase operated entity.
Come to think of it, make them Chesapeakes, where they allegedly had an employee which was innoculated for Hepatitis. Wonder how the county finance man and the county gooks knew that, sounds like a privacy violation.
Brian Hornback
Brian Hornback has not said a thing about Tyler Harber.
Did he witness any criminal behavior?
Is his silence or falure to act a crime?
Brian ???
Brian Hornback
Brian Hornback is a simple, partisan, apperatik flunky. It would be wrong and unfair at this point, at least, to believe that he had a role in, or knowledge of Ragsdale's, and or Harber's nefarious schemes.
Read his blog, watch him on TV, talk to him ... . you'll quickly see what I mean.
Take Care, Be Good and don't play in the street!

Hornback opened the door to the Knox Republican offices and let Groves and Harber take the computers from the building so the computer list of names could be stolen.
How is that not having a "role" in the theft? The person that wanted the names was Ragsdale. Do you have amnesia Steve"
A useful Apperatik
I should have been clearer. Forgive me. I was trying to be kind. I do not beleive that he had an active, fully knowledgable role. I see Mr. Hornback's role in all this (and it might change as more comes to light) as that of useful dumbass. The flunky so enthralled with being in the presence of power and made to feel like an insider that they never question, never ask, never think that anything might be amiss. Now that it is clear that something was very much amiss Mr. Hornback has assumed silent mode - say nothing, do nothing, and hope it all goes away.
I could be wrong but I really don't see Mr. Hornback being the type of person you want directly involved in something like this. A door opener is one thing; tell him it's important, give him a reasonable reason ("computer maintenance/security sweep" - whatever). However, active conspiritor? Guys like Mr. Hornback don't have the sand. They make mistakes, get feeling too important, overreach, and when caught they'll spill their guts and blame it on everyone else. They're just a bad risk and while useful you want them to know as little as possible.
Take Care, Be Good and don't play in the street!

He saw them take the computers out of the building. I'll take door number two, active conspirator.
So?
"He saw them take the computers out of the building." So? People take their computers out all the time. I take mine to DigiTek when I need to. They could have come up with any reasonable sounding reason and I'm sure that Mr. Hornback would have believed them. Why wouldn't he? He had become tight with Mayor Ragsdale and that group, they helped him become GOP Chairman (a position he has since used to try to play Knox County's version of Carl Rove) so why wouldn't he believe them? Mr. Hornback has a large ego and small qualifications - not unlike the local chapter president of some celebrity fanclub. Look at his blog - lots and lots of pictures of HIM with various visiting GOP celebrities - his importance is derived from his proximity to people of importance. Classic 'little man" personality. So I believe that it is quite possible if not highly probable, that he really knows nothing more than what we know - that he held the door open while Tyler Harber and Adam Groves made off with, and later hacked the computers in question.
On the other hand #9 you might be correct and Mr. Hornback does have much to answer for. But I doubt it.
Take Care, Be Good and don't play in the street!
SteveMule
Hornback has to answer
Right. Unfair? Hornback is in this up to his eyeballs.
It is a simple question:
Brian, did you see any emails from Tyler?
Maybe Lloyd and Kelvin at "The Voice" will step up and invite Hornback to answer.
