Here's the letter and here's the response (both posted here). The letter does not appear to have elicited the desired response. Maybe the Sheriff doesn't have a sense of humor? (By way of Michael Silence.)

Sheriff Hutchison should go

Sheriff Hutchison should go ahead and report this lawyer to the Board of Professional Responsibility, as they can do more to straighten her out than the politically charged environment of Knox County.

Exactly what is her offense?

Exactly what is her offense? If the marks had actually been fecal matter, as she obviously believed, shouldn't she have been outraged and complained?

BTW, Why the hell is the average person supposed to know what liquid nail looks like? I didn't even know there was such a product.

Guess this is an example of "Sarchasm" in it's purist form, the yawning divide between the purveyor and receipient of said sarcasm.

If you think her letter isn't "professional", the Sheriff's letter sure as hell isn't either.

Sure, she should have complained if she thought it was really fecal matter. But, not in a sarcastic, childish manner.

It is pretty obvious from the pictures that is an adhesive. Why would the average person jump to the conclusion that it was fecal matter?

BTW, according to a front page story in the KNS, she claims it was all a joke, she knew is wasn't feces. A professional doesn't put a "joke" on their employer's letterhead.

You too have no sense of humor.

Humor?

This letter was not the time or place for "humor". This person is supposedly a professional. As a licensed professional myself (though thankfully not a lawyer), I find her letter juvenile and completely inappropriate.

The sheriff's response was appropriate and professional.

yep

Ms Auer's letter was indeed juvenile and inappropriate, but could it be any more obvious it was written in jest? The sheriff's decision to treat it as a serious complaint may have been professional, but his choice to publicize the letter was neither professional nor appropriate.

"below normal comprehension levels," "willing to intentionally lie," "moronic assumptions," "clearly a liability," "limited mental abilities," "obvious limitations," a professional does not make remarks like that and publish them on his website and whine to the newspaper and post the letter at the detention center. That's what a vindictive tyrant does.

It is hard to tell whether it is a simple lack of humor that lead to the sheriff's overreaction or if he is hypersensitive following years of legitimate complaints about his facilities, but pitching a public fit over "Ass and Art: Abstracts in Angst" is hardly professional.

Oh. Never mind.

Where is Emily Litella when we need her?
