AIG was in trouble, their shares literally tanked, and instead of letting AIG fail, the government stepped in and took control.

Not satisfied with the "too big to fail" taxpayer help, AIG is now suing the US Government for an additional $25 Billion from taxpayers.

The former head of the American International Group sued the U.S. government for $25 billion on Monday, claiming officials should have bailed out AIG instead of taking it over.

Greenburg also filed suit against the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The Fed's response

"AIG's board of directors had an alternative choice to borrowing from the Federal Reserve and that choice was bankruptcy," the New York Fed said in the statement.

What the Fed said. Should have just left AIG to fail in the first damn place, imho.
