Cases this weekend.

I really can't think of a worse time to cut back on the daily release of statistics to the public than what has happened the last two weekends.I will wear a mask and limit contact while getting signatures today, but I really have no idea what is going on out there. The next several weeks aren't looking so good, but pulling anecdotal stories and trying to predict just how bad it's going to get is tough.

I read an statistical analysis the other day that claimed the unvaccinated were going to the hospital at a rate fifteen times higher than they had in the past. We've got 192,000 unvaccinated people in Knox County. Probably another 100,000 that haven't been boosted. I'm wondering if this is the surge where Glenn Jacobs wins, the hospitals shut down, deaths sore and he finally gets his dead child. Every time we seem to be getting closer to the light at the end of the tunnel, it seems Jacob's policies just push us that much farther back. I'm not very optimistic about the next several weeks.

That being said,

I understand our entire healthcare system, including those gathering, compiling and releasing data, is understaffed and exhausted. It didn't have to be this way. Glenn Jacobs did this.

UT Hospitalizations.

They are up significantly since Friday. This is not encouraging news for those of us concerned about public health and deaths affected by this surge. We may not move past pandemic to endemic, as a community, on this surge. I will be working on covid policy and how it will fit in my platform this week.
