In spite of what that email from your buddy says:
But where do these things come from? From people who dedicate themselves to hateful attacks like that...say, someone like a former CIA operative: ( categories: )

I just talked to friend who was one of the 40 or so people purged without warning or severence pay. Apparently IdleAire has hired a "chainsaw Al" to "fix" things but it doesn't look good. Odd who got terminated...There is some great programmer/IT talent available for hire, all of a sudden. ( categories: )

Here's the best story to hit Roane County in Years and I can't post because the Roaneviews web host has problems. This place is or will be right up the river from my office. I've been having lots of fun with certain folks in my office...The Baptist ones. ( categories: )

I don't go TO Knoxville as much as I go THROUGH Knoxville, and I've been dreading the closing of I 40. So yesterday was my first trip from West to East and back again. I allowed extra time, performed a ritual meditation designed to counteract road rage, and hit the road. ( categories: )

There is a continued controversy regarding science textbooks that actually teach science. With that in mind, several folks have decided that it would be appropriate for informative stickers to be applied to books containing certain material. Here are sample stickers that might be considered. ( categories: )

In honor of the second Anniversity of KnoxViews.com I think we should revisit one of the Golden oldies of our esteemed and honored mentor. (A certain part of it has renewed relevence.) Maybe you'll see why we read every word "Bubba's" writes. ( categories: )

An Artist friend sent this link to me. I had to make myself stop. I decided to send it toward the end of the day so that productivity would not drop so precipitously. "Enter" changes colors. Remember to leave at five. "Control" picks up your "drip" ( categories: )

Bobby was being pulled from his car by an assailant. His girlfriend was in the other seat. He made his decision and fought back, pummeling the would be carjacker with his fists. Bobby won the fight and the criminal is behind bars but there's a catch...Bobby's insurance won't cover the injuries he suffered while subduing the criminal and saving his girl friend. Looks like Lamar was NOT interested in having his picture taken with President Bush. It's a stark testament when the President of the USA comes to town for a fundraiser, only raises $600,00 for a sitting Senator, and it doesn't make the news. ( categories: )

Some folks label Knoxviews as a "Liberal" blog but I would promote the term "progressive" as a better fit, since several of us like certain "conservative" ideas as opposed to classic liberalism, but we, as a group, certainly tend to lean away from the right with a few exceptions. What I think sets Progressive blogs apart is the "Where's your evidence?" response to most blog threads. If you can't back it up, prepare to do battle with the forces of truth, which we've all learned first hand at one time or another. It's tough to get away with a hit and run post in these here parts, as the great Lobster Tale would illustrate. Now we know more than we want about the price of tail in Knoxville. ( categories: )

My largest friend sent me this. I'n not sure I totally buy into it yet but what the heck...it matches my WhitesCreek blog site: "When your screen is white - an empty word page, or the Google page, your computer consumes 74 watts, and when its black it consumes only 59 watts. Mark Ontkush wrote an article about the energy saving that would be achieved if Google had a black screen, taking in account the huge number of page views, according to his calculations, 750 mega watts/hour per year would be saved. In a response to this article Google created a black version of its search engine, called Blackle, with the exact same functions as the white version, but with a lower energy consumption, check it out." Thursday's Knox News page 1: Two stories on Knox County officials...totally apropriate unless you have a problem with them being black and female. (I don't) One story on the Iraq soccer celebrations being bombed killing 50 people...and an inset pointing out Democsrats attempt to end the war...That's legit news. The big story "focus" was on soldiers returning from the war and making babies. I isn't until page 8 that you find out that many of the fathers are back in Iraq when the baby is born...Well sort of legit for a first page but a bit rah rah for what should be noted as a national tragedy. And we've lost Alfalfa, an owl. That's totally more important than the story on page 5 about the highest ranking justice official in the United States of America lying under oath while testifying before Congress about his involvement in the Bush ADministration's spying on American citizens without warrants. So the Attorney General of the United States committs perjury to cover up an illegal act that should get most of the Administration impeached and the Knox News Sentinal gives us... The bird?
