I'm not saying either is right or better, but it has occured to me that there is a really distinct honest feeling in both camps that the other "just isn't making the right choice". People do percieve things differently. This is an interesting little "test" to see which way your brain tends toward.

Mine tended right.

Yes, I could focus and make the dancer turn the other way.

Which way does yours go?

Do Americans care if we're in Iraq for 10,000 years? Of course not!

Groovin' to the oldies with McCain.

What a maverick!

At 4:19 this aft, after last week's deadline, the N-S reports four more applicants (and one withdrawn app) for the vacant commission seats:

—Former state Rep. Steve Buttry for the 6th Commission District, where only Bob Rountree applied by Friday’s deadline. Buttry e-mailed his application Saturday afternoon.

—Roger Kane, who lost the Republican primary for trustee, in the 6th Commission District. He sent his e-mail to the commission office Thursday but an employee said it wasn’t received until after the deadline.

—Former court clerk Caroline Hindman in the 8th Commission District, who e-mailed her application at 4:33 p.m. Friday.

—Knox County Engineering and Public Works employee Martin Pleasant in the 9th Commission District, who e-mailed his application at 4:35 p.m. Friday.

Also today, 8th District candidate Tommy Everette withdrew his name. The winner of the Republican primary, Dave Wright, who faces no Democratic opposition, is seeking the appointment in that East Knox County district.

(Edit: At 7:00 p.m., add Pete Drew in the 1st, Claudia Linse in the 9th.)

Buy those Forever stamps now! Not that a whole cent will break the bank. The post office has 5 billion Forever stamps in stock to meet the demand.

under the new law regulating the post office that took effect in late 2006, the agency is allowed to increase rates with 45-days notice as long as changes are within the rate of inflation for the previous 12 months.

Is the public tired of your terrorist threat warnings that turn out to be nothing?

Has your color-coded security levels become a public joke?

Well, just in time for the 2008 election (and to put McCain in the White House), the Bush Administration is bringing you the long-awaited trial of... some people... connected to 9/11 somehow... well, we've heard of one of them, that KSM guy.... (say, whatever happened to that Osama guy?)

And, for some crazy reason, this will be the first and only trial to be PUBLIC!!!. Does that seem odd to anyone else?

Happy Valentine's Day, John. -- SMOOTCH!!! --

PAUL KRUGMAN looks at the spitting match between Democrats, described in the NYT's daily e-mail notice with the following:
"Most of the venom is coming from supporters of Barack Obama, who want their hero or nobody. His campaign seems dangerously close to becoming a cult of personality."

"Although Petraeus and other senior commanders in Iraq had been suggesting the possibility of a pause in the drawdown, the idea runs counter to those in the military — particularly in the Army and Marine Corps — who worry that strains on troops from long and multiple combat tours will grow worse unless the drawdown continues after July."

Note that they are no longer using the word withdrawal. When Bush is taking troops out it is called a "drawdown"

I just hope all the Americans who have had their eyes opened about this war will remember to be more alert when it comes to the Washington/ Republican propaganda machine.

I hope the betrayed early supporters of this war will refuse to vote Republican in the general election.
