Pandering to the xenophobes, Rodolfo Giuliani* demonstrates that Hispanic is the "new black" for GOP politics:
Rudy Giuliani said Wednesday that if elected president he would end illegal immigration in as few as three years by employing the same police tactics he used to reduce the crime rate as New York mayor.
Stopping illegal immigration "is not impossible," presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani said Wednesday.
"It can be done. It is not impossible," Giuliani told his audience at a town hall-style meeting. "You can do this, you can stop them at the border."
Giuliani said he would boost the number of border security agents to 18,000 from the current 12,000, and build a fence along the U.S.-Mexico border with technological monitoring to reduce illegal immigration.
Maybe he can simply arm the blind and send them to la maquiladora.

- Facing South
So many Mexican people
So many Mexican/Central American/South American people continue to feel the need to leave home and family to face the ordeal that entering the US is, facing starvation and death crossing the desert, facing deportation and myriad other legal issues. My questions, why is this a border control issue and not a human rights issue? and why is this suddenly a problem when it was so easily overlooked before?
Have we really become such a nation of pussies that we are so easily led around by fear? Are we really still so concerned that the brown people among us are trying to get their hands on our jobs/women/stuff?
Equality for all already damn it!
Dumb and dumberer
God darnit, Mr. Lamarr, you use your tongue prettier than a twenty-dollar whore!
Er, purple monkey dishwasher.
Ever'body together now!
Now is a time of great decision
Are we to stay or up and quit?
There's no avoiding this conclusion:
Our country's turning into shit.
Anti-immigration arguments defy logic. They defy reality..
People come here because they're oppressed by political forces or poverty that is so extreme we Americans can't even imagine. Sure, these human beings want to get ahead and have a more secure future; they're willinng to leave their homeland in order to do it. That's a sacrifice. Most come here willing to work like dogs for what they know will be very low wages by our standards, and they do very good work. Many have skills beyond the farmlands.
We need these people. The belief that our own citizens are willing and capable of doing the kinds of work the immigrants find here is overblown.
We HAVE enough money in this country to pay for own own citizens to have a very good standard of living and also accomodate illegal aliens. We just throw our money away on things like war and contracts with companies like Brown & Root who do crap work, but never get held accountable.
The lie that most illegal immigrants are potential criminals is really evil. The majority are loving, law abiding family-centered peoples.
Who gives a damn if their English is fluent? I don't. If they have trouble getting around, reading things, that's their problem. Immigrants have always found ways to avail themselves of what they need to know and many people are willing to help them do it.
Immigrants haev always enriched our culture and still are doing that. We would loose out on many wonderful things if we lived in an all-white, cookie-cutter society.
Guiliani was a ruthless mayor, and if he gets elected he will be a ruthless president. His mopping up NY left a lot of people in worse shape than they were before.
How wonderful that someone
How wonderful that someone else sees this as a humanitarian issue! I have been in the unique position of working with hispanic people for almost 20 years. I have learned to speak Spanish and see their side of the story. The majority of immigrants are hard working people who come here out of need, but many criminals from Central and South America come here also. This has been told to me by many hispanic people. We do not need open borders, but we need some type of program to allow these people to work here and be identified. We do need these workers.
I have many friends who may or may not be legally here. I do not ask this question.
This issue should have been dealt with many years ago. The powers that be did not say a word as long as they made money off the people. Many are wealthy today due to the hispanic illegal worker.
I always laugh at the politicians who scream out against illegal immigration then go home and pay the hispanic(illegal)nanny and gardener.
Anyone who thinks that illegals do not pay taxes has never been to Walmart on a Sunday afternoon. Sales tax you all...
Just my 2 cents worth.....
About the criminals...
You deserve applause for the good work you've done. I've spent quite a bit of time living in Latin American countries and I've also very grown very fond of and respectful of the people South of the Border.
It's too bad we can't work out a plan with native countries, so we could send illegals who commit serious crimes IMMEDIATELY back to their own countries. I don't mean speeding tickets. I mean real crime. As it is these people are just released on bond after arrest and disappear back into our cities and towns.
I've also noticed that Hispanics are not above having their own prejudices about peoples from other countries. They swap their own rumors and misinformation all the time. I don't doubt criminals are coming in, but I'm not too sure an ID program will ever eliminate criminals. They always seem to have a way of getting arund things. It is possible however to nab them when they commit crimes here.
I'm not very informed about the legality of sending them back or of somehow not letting them post bond if they are illegal and commit crimes, but why not?
I agree, lets send the bad
I agree, lets send the bad guys back, but we know they will cross over again more than likely.
I think many criminal illegals are sent back. What I have seen is that if an illegal immigrant abides by the law for the most part and maybe gets pulled over and has no license and/or insurance, they pay their fines and go on about their business, but if there are repeated offenses, even traffic violations, they are reported to "la migra" and eventually deported. As far as those committing felony crimes, I have no experience as to what happens to them but many are deported also.
